You can prepare hummus at home, as it requires common ingredients. Hummus is prepared with mashed chickpeas blended with tahini, lemon juice, and garlic. You can pair it as a dip, spread, or as a savory dish.
Ingredients:
- 1 (15-ounce) can (1 ½ cups) cooked chickpeas
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- ¼ cup tahini
- 3-4 garlic cloves, crushed
- 1 teaspoon zest of lemon
- ¼ cup fresh dill, finely chopped
- ¼ cup spring onion, finely chopped
- 1-2 fresh green chili, small size, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon black paper, crushed
- 2 teaspoons roasted combination of spice powder (1 teaspoon of cumin seeds, 1 teaspoon raw coriander, and 2 teaspoons crushed red chili flakes; combine and roast on a low flame, and then grind into a powdered form)
- 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil (2 tablespoons to blend and 1 tablespoon to garnish)
- Salt according to taste
Method:
In a food processor, combine the cooked chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, lemon zest, and salt. Blend to make a smooth and creamy consistency.
Pour into a serving bowl. Combine dill, green chili, spring onion, roasted combination of spice powder, black paper, and salt. Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil and serve with a sliced of bread.
